November Poems

This first one is by me, written three years ago at about this time of year when there was a rash of disasters across the globe, all at one time, it seemed.  That combined with my own struggle with dwindling daylight and nasty weather had me feeling rather gloomy, apparently.
“The world is dying, [...]

24 November 2008 ~ For Today ~ Simple Woman’s Journal

FOR TODAY … 24 November 2008
Outside My Window… very gray, dark skies.  We have a slight snow/rain storm on its way.
I am thinking… not much.  I’m not very bright today.
I am thankful for… feeling better from my bug, and my cozy weekend at home.
From the kitchen… I haven’t a clue.  Please review my condition, two lines up.
I [...]

Sampler Quilt to Date

Well, here it is so far… one 12″ block for the first nine months of the year.  (The snowman’s head isn’t really crooked; my hubby just has a death grip on the corner.)  Blocks and sashing are handstitched.  Not pictured is the block for October (a maple leaf) as well as the final row of sashing, but [...]

Recent Beading Stuff

With a new organizer for my supplies, I was moving things around and found some goodies to use up.
The bookmark is highly unimpressive, I realize, but I was more interested in playing with length (need more) and making sure my crimps held things in place.  They’ll get more interesting after this LOL!

FOR TODAY … 17 November 2008
Outside My Window… Snow on the ground.  Yes, snow!  I am most offended at this happening five weeks before the official start of winter.  Hmph!
I am thinking… I wish my spaceheater would stop turning off.  Safety is fine, but I’m still chilly!
I am thankful for… my hubby who helped take care [...]

Book Review ~ “John Adams” by David McCullough

I wanted to share my thoughts in review form on the recent tome (600 pages) I just finished, because I thought it was so exceptional.
I confess, my larger introduction to John Adams was through the 1970s musical “1776″. I became aware of David McCullough after purchasing his (unrelated) book, also called “1776″. When I saw [...]

FOR TODAY … 11 November 2008
Outside My Window… Dull, gray skies.  I can’t remember when we last saw the sun.
I am thinking… that those four men in my office who came in today in spite of being very sick had better not share their colds with me!
I am thankful for… lowering gas prices!  $2/gallon is not uncommon [...]

Six Quirky Things About Me

Well I was tagged by a fellow blogger who shall remain nameless (though if you think Drowsy Feline Empty Space and look in my blog roll, you could probably guess) to create this list.  I am also supposed to tag six other bloggers, but I don’t personally know six others LOL!  Anyway, here goes…
Six quirky [...]

3 November 2008 ~ For Today ~ Simple Woman’s Journal

FOR TODAY … 3 October 2008
Outside My Window… Chester (my black squirrel neighbor) continues his nut relocation program across the main road, making me a nervous wreck.  Hopefully he’ll be sufficiently stored and done with this madness soon.
I am thinking… it’s going to be a nice, quiet week with most of my co-workers in [...]
